Even though we’ve moved on in Vietnam, Hoi An stays with us. Maybe it’s because we miss home, but we found it hard to say goodbye to the family we stayed with for six nights. A farewell dinner, parting gifts and hugs, strangers became friends in a once unknown and foreign place. The quaint town, delicious food and bucolic bike paths in the nearby countryside continue to charm us long after we are gone. I know we’ll be back again some day.

I love that you are connecting with the “real people” who live in these countries. Learning their way of life and history gives you a much better understanding of other cultures–even when you return home and they are also living here in our melting pot! Luke is getting a wonderful education!
