I’ve been reading the Hardy Boys series during our trip, and it was no coincidence that there was a mystery waiting for us at Le Fattizze farm in Italy. As we drove near the entrance, we heard a strange sound. It was like a jet airplane, but nothing was in the sky. We slowed the car and saw in front of us a bridge with a sign that read, “Nardo Technical Center, Porsche Engineering.” I couldn’t believe my eyes!
Our farm was smack in the middle of a 14 kilometer circular test track for Porsche!
(The star is our farm. The giant circle is the track. You can even see it from space!)
There were semis coming in daily with tires, parts and new cars to test inside the super secret, walled compound. I tried my best to get in, but all we could do was hang out with the big rig drivers outside the gates and peek inside their trailers. I caught a glimpse of several new 911s, Cayennes, Audis and the coolest of all, the 2017 Bugatti Chiron (that costs $2.6 million!) Pretty sweet! Sadly, we were not allowed to take any pictures.
We found the perfect viewing spot on a hill that offered just a glimpse of the cars flying by on the track. We made it a daily ritual to ride our bikes over and watch the super cars whizz by. It was always the highlight of my day!
What a wonderful surprise for you Luke.
